on construction of the new Garland Independent School District
Special Events Center, a state-of-the-art assembly and conferencing

HISD Headquarters Getting New Home
The Houston Independent School District is in the process
of choosing an architect and developing a financing plan to
move its headquarters to the 65-acre Delmar Sports Complex
in northwest Houston.
Under a recently approved plan, the district's new central
office will be housed in a 300,000-sq.-ft. building that is
expected to cost between $28 million and $30 million to construct.
The decision was made to build a new facility on HISD-owned
property next to Delmar Stadium after a team of architects,
mechanical engineers, civil engineers and roofing consultants
analyzed the administrative complex's facilities to estimate
the costs for making them economically viable for the next
20-25 years.
The team concluded that the aging complex is in poor condition
and would require between $26 million and $28 million to renovate.
